LOOKING AGAIN: ISLAMIC ART
What does “Islamic art” mean to you?
Looking Again: Islamic Art is a contemporary exhibition exploring how we understand and define Islamic art today.
Is it calligraphy, geometry and ornament? Is it art depicting Muslim people, places and experiences? Does the artist need to be Muslim? Or can Islamic art be something entirely contemporary?
Bringing together different artists, approaches and perspectives, the exhibition invites us to look again at what we recognise as Islamic art and consider it as something living, diverse and continually evolving.
CALL FOR ARTISTS
We are looking for artists and creatives to be part of the exhibition. We welcome work across a range of styles and mediums, including calligraphy, geometric and tile work, abstract art, people and identity, Islamic places and architecture, as well as work that challenges conventional ideas of what Islamic art can be.
